Manuscripts submitted to eco.mont undergo the following steps in the review process:
- Initial submission: The author submits the manuscript via the OJS.
- Editor’s initial screening: The editors conduct an initial review to ensure the submission fits our criteria, see also initial review criteria.
- Assignment to reviewers: If the manuscript passes the initial screening, it is assigned to expert reviewers.
- Peer review: Reviewers assess the paper based on several criteria, including:
- Novelty: Is the research new and original?
- Methodology: Are the research methods sound and well-documented?
- Contribution to the field: Does it advance knowledge in the area?
- Clarity: Is the writing clear and well-structured?
- Ethics: Are there any ethical concerns (e.g., data fabrication, plagiarism)?
The reviewers will send a detailed report with suggestions for improvement or justification for rejection.
- Decision by the editors: Based on the reviewers’ comments, the editors decide to:
- Accept the paper, sometimes with minor revisions.
- Request revisions: This may be major or minor revisions.
- Reject the paper.
- Revisions (if applicable): Authors are given the opportunity to address the reviewers’ comments. After making changes, the revised manuscript may go through another round of review.
- Final decision: After reviewing the revised submission, the editors make the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript.
